true.....and when going through a divorce, being offshore is the best thing when it comes to getting your kids on the time off. the judge will first ask, "do you have means of picking them up at school? can you drop them off everyday? etc......"

Yep. He might could get on at a petrochemical plant as an operator if all the stars aligned. But even then he'd be working crazy shifts, overtime, etc. Also, living in a small town really, really limits his options.

Depends who you ask, I'd never take a job where I was away from home 50% of the time but people line up for them.

this would be the worst thing that he could do if he wants his kid the entire time that he is home. the judge is usually partial to guys who have seen their children for only half of their life and want to simply maintain that status. it's almost always a "yes".

Good one! I've been hearing about this family law reform for years, it's just a myth. I'll be going back to court in July for a divorce that was "finalized" in early 2004. The proceedings have been ongoing for 14 years. I've shelled out about $1.5mil in cash, property, and pension, plus atty. fees. And oh yeah, the ex is a drunk, bi-polar, town whore, won't work, etc. If you have a vag, you're rewarded for being a parasite, and converesely, the guy is penalized for whatever level of success he may achieved.

once again....it's a simple equation: payroll + days with child each month = child support

not sure why you were screwed. I feel it's because you may make a shite ton more than she did. in this case, it's just the way the ball bounces.

sorry bro.

I haven't lost as much but it took going through 3 prior lawyers that all came highly recommended to get to a good one that communicates, gives realistic advice and fights for me. That and a lot of money.

but, if you have a pecker and you make 250,000.00 les than she does per month, she will be the one that feels "screwed" like you do. especially if you are sharing time equally with the kids. you see how it works?

sure, the calculation of child support is straightforward.

In the many other details of divorce there exists, either in the law or in the judges' minds (at least the ones where I practice), a very real maternal preference.

not in FL, it comes off a table, your income minus hers(0), before taxes

well...my judge doesn't give two shits about infidelity. he'll be fast to tell you that infidelity doesn't make her a bad mother. it makes her a shitty wife and that's why you're going through a divorce.

now.....when it comes to drugs, abuse, and psychology....it's a whole different game. but, the OP has stated that his buddy is clean so, I was really offering advice to him.

Pretty sure thats not how it works in LA. When I got divorced, I had my child 2 days per month. Ex would not allow her to spend the night. (No I was not screwing dogs or cooking meth). I paid a shite ton in child support. Still do. Court upheld her request.

Divorce laws (at least in LA) are the most illogical pile of dog crap ever written. If I were a judge, I would be embarrased that I have to enforce them.

That kind of thinking by the courts are why our country is morally bankrupt these days. Just baffling how cheating on your kids father and tearing the family apart can be thought of as harmless to the kids.

Well, unless she was getting jackhammered in front of the kids (and you can prove it). At that point it is evidence of a lack of moral fitness.

that's not even true, and I have documented proof, court doesn't care about morality, ethics, fairness, or justice, just so the vag/parasite is rewarded
