My vote is still skipping the bus.

Definitely works for some people, definitely. I just prefer not to drive anywhere while I'm there. Monorails, boats, walking, buses are my preferred modes of transport while there.

The grounds are great, the pool is awesome but I still hate that bus loop even having to only deal with half of i
But you don't have to deal with half of it, no matter which way the bus goes you're the first second stop (either port royale or the bus stop at Aruba) depending on where in Aurba you are staying and which stop you want to get off at.

We were in building 6 of POFQ, back by the river. Great relaxing view and easy short walk to the main building/food court/gift shop/pool and to the bus stop.

I have stayed there with a child and brought a stroller on and off the bus. I was in one of the building at the back of the resort. It was extremely easy for me to get around there. It's a small resort by Disney standards. If you find it inconvenient and so massive, maybe you should try the HOJO out on International Boulevard.
Contemporary is a small disney resort especially before the addition of the Bay towers, but even with those additions it is half the size of FQ. FQ is not a large disney resort either. Looking at Disney resorts as a whole does not make much sense. It is much better to look at volume of bus stops in the resort versus the number of rooms. FQ has 1 bus stop for 1000 rooms. Riverside has 4 bus stops for 2000 rooms. Simply put, given the number of rooms and bus stops, Riverside has shorter walks to the bus.
There are more rooms per bus stop at FQ then many of the other resorts. Add to that, you have to share a bus with a much larger resort and you will find you spend more time and trying to get to your room from a park at FQ than many other resorts. I have stayed at most of the resorts, multiple times at Disney, FQ is not a very good resort when it comes to spending time on buses. Your best bet is to be in Riverside at bus stop close to the south depot. You will spend less time on buses that way. If you stay at FQ, you will spend the maximum amount of time on buses in the morning because you have to go through Riverside before going to the part, but you have the advantage of being the first stop at night.

Be quiet nola. Not all of us can live in Celebration for two months and go to Universal every night.

I am pretty familiar with the property so I actually prefer to drive. I can't stand taking the bus system anywhere.
I'm the opposite.
I better stay on Disney property.

we stayed at one of the Downtown Disney hotels
yes, I'm going to stay at the Wyndham Garden or something like that.

Stay on property and drive works really well. You get to park anywhere at disney world for free as a resort guest. Prices for hotels on property are about the same as off property. All you have to fight is a tram and sometimes not even that depending on how close you can park to the entrance in the mornings. Usually when we stay at a resort like All star, we just drive our car to the parks. We never have to deal with anything but the trams to the parking lot. With your car you never have to worry about loading and unloading delays. You simply drive to your hotel room and park.

Who drove you back to your room instead of having to take the bus?

My wife! Go completely lazy on vacation.

Agreed...but the whole driving there and back thing kinda sucks.
We're driving up ourselves for our may trip...purely financial though.

I've driven to the parks many times. How I go back and forth to the parks obviously depends on where I'm staying. I always take the bus to the Magic Kingdom though. To me, it is pointless to drive there because once you park, you still have to take Disney transportation to get to the park. I'm not going to drive myself so that I can park, then take the tram, and then take the monorail or a boat. Driving yourself to and from any other park works just fine though. My next trip this May will be at the Boardwalk Villas, so I'll be walking to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

I'll be there over Memorial Day. I got a sweet discount code PIN and booked three nights with 3 day park hoppers at Pop Century for about $1100.

I'll be arriving on the 26th and staying for 9 nights with a party of 7. We booked 7 nights in studios at the Boardwalk Villas and then we added 2 nights in a 2 bedroom at Kidani.

I've got a feeling they could sticky this thread. Literally dozens of different opinions and scenarios and we could debate about the RCID(Disney) for weeks on end.
It really depends on each family how the experience should be handled.
But it's a fact that the bus system is incrediblely inefficient and until Disney spends $$$ on Monorails or cutting edge Peoplemovers we're stuck with them. No offense to the handicap but they really need their own buses. Some folks are abusing the scooter system to get priority and that would curtail that. Especially the fit 40-50 year old mom with a "boot" on her leg who pulls up in a rented scooter with 14 relatives just as the bus arrives. They immediately get to the front of the line and fill up half the bus. Disney's in the process of dumping billions into Hollywood and hopefully EPCOT right now so I doubt the transportation system is in their eyesights right now.
That being said Min and Bills dockside diner in Hollywood has frozen Lemonade with your choice added liquor. Thumbs up.

MK is a pain in that way.

Brah, we had to move like two tons of stuff out of your car. I think one of us had to ride on the roof.

Disney sucks so if you can't stay at the best hotels like that African one, Floridian, the one with the train or the Hawaiian one I wouldn't go

RCID? Seriously? You don't need to try and be cool.
Just call it Disney.
