Call back and get to a rentensions expert by stating cancel service when you get the automated service.

I was able to get what I'm assuming is ST Max. I just asked for Red Zone. I also got various discounts off of the different packages that I have which amounted to $30 off my bill for the next 6 months.

On a side note when I asked about the SEC Network, she said she wasn't much of sports fan but was pretty sure it would happen. When I pointed out that they didn't have the PAC 12 Network she said they may have received a handful of complaints but their phones are ringing off the hook right now with people wanting to leave over the SEC Network. She said its like the "Spanish Inquisition" over there.

I did state "cancel service" at every step of the automated service, but I'm pretty sure it was not a retention CSR that I spoke to. He was unwilling to do anything until my contract was up in 8 days, including transfer me to retention.

I'll give them another call and hopefully find someone who is more cooperative.

at that point you say "ok, i want to cancel." and they connect you with the person with power.

It's really not difficult, and I'm not particularly a hardass on the phone. Call. Ask to cancel. When they ask why, tell them whatever...it doesn't matter(last time,I told them I wanted to switch to local cable because it was cheaper). Decline at least the first offer. Accept their offer when you are satisfied.

I did that and he informed me that I would have to pay an early termination fee if I canceled today rather than when my contract was up in 8 days.

Thats when you say, "Ok, dish agreed to pay any termination fees I encounter"

Your cancellation fee is $20 dollars. Tell them that you are willing to pay it because you are tired of waiting and need to be set-up in time for season to start.

Or wait 8 days and if no announcement the you've lost nothing. If they do announce tell them what Cox or Dish is offering, you don't want to leave but these deals are too good to be true.

In my opinion an expired contract is more leverage than no SEC Network.

1. Call DirecTV
2. Ask for the customer retention dept.
3. Profit

Exactly. If you back down when they start talking about cancelation fees, they win. Stay strong.

frick directv. Ive been a customer with them for over 15 years. The other day I called because one of my receivers wasnt catching some of the hd channels. I already troubleshot the issue by swapping the receiver with the receiver in my livingroom and proving that it was not a wiring or signal issue. I told shaneqyuia what was up and she claimed all she could do was send out a technician. I told her I wasnt paying for a technician to come out and taking off of work to babysit him when its clear what the problem was. Instead I just bought an owned receiver off of ebay and will put it in until my contract is up. Im tired of directvs shitty equipment anyway. fricking slow arse crap.
