I switched from U-Verse when my initial deal was up because they were only offering Promos on Direct TV. I am not a fan and they keep over charging me. I want to cancel, does anyone know of any fees they might try to charge me to cancel?

Considering Directv is now owned by ATT I wouldn't think they would charge a cancellation fee

How are you being overcharged? I thought it is a 2 year price guarantee, at least that's what I have with uverse.

They included 3 free months of premium channels (HBO, etc.) once 3 months were up they charged me. I called and complained they said pay your normal bill now and we will credit the other amount. I paid my bill and they still changed me for premium channels. This month my bill is the same amount. I spent like an hour and a half on the phone last time.

You have to cancel those channels on your own, otherwise you get automatically charged until you remove them from your plan.

Well they do tell you to cancel it if not, you pay for it. You could have declined this.

This happened to my parents, but they simply asked them to remove the charge. They did in fact credit their next bill, and it actually took like 6 months for them to cancel the actual premium service.

This is literally the business model for every subscription type product you can purchase now days, you understand that right?

Many give their products free, or at a loss to lock you in and assume you won't cancel, won't want to go back to peon life without it.

IE signed up for Rivals Recruiting site, they gave me a 100$ shop gift certificate for the team store, trying to call to cancel and you wait on hold for 4 hours, they auto bill you and won't refund if you don't cancel prior to renewal.

This is the problem I am having now but they didn't even credit the initial month when I cancelled the premiums. Did your parents have to call each month?

I just got Directv a month ago. The movie channels is a 3 month promotion then you start getting charged. It was very clearly stated. Now I need to remember to cancel before I get snuck like you did.

They did nothing wrong though, all tv providers do that same type of thing.

I understand how it works. I am saying I cancelled and they are still charging me.

You probably cancelled right as the monthly billing cycle was closing or whatever and that's why it showed up on the bill the next month. If that's the case they should let you deduct the amount rather than overpay and get a credit back. I think if you threaten to cancel service they will take care of you.

Cancelled in August. Just saw a $207 charge unauthorized on my bank account. Was not under contract and sent in all equipment. Just called them up and they told me this was my final bill after the guy on the phone in August told me i was up to date on my bills.

I'll never use DTV again. frick them.
