Was wondering if any you guys have been to the doctor for this condition? been off and on for months now. Ive been reading up and it looks like its called Dysphagia. Feels like food and liquids get stuck in your throat. Im gonna schedule an appointment with a doctor but could be a week or two before i can get in. I'm a little nervous with what i was reading. Getting old sucks! Any feedback would be appreciated even the funny ones .

I figure one or two helpful answers out of every 10 would be acceptable .

I have a relative who has that issue. she goes in a time or two per year and they dialate her esophagus. they just spray some anesthetic down there and she is done in a few minutes. doesn't seem to be bad at all and she is good to go for another 6 or 8 months.

See a GI doc

Might be esophaghitis or stricture.

Or your HIV has progressed to full blown aids involving the esophagus

Do you have heartburn regularly? I did and had the same issue. Scar tissue from the acid had closed off the opening to the stomach They went in and cut the opening back. I take a heartburn pill daily now. Instant relief with the surgery.

Had this same issue. Had a lot of heartburn and then got my throat dilated. Get that done, it's not a big deal. But then definitely take Omepherazole daily

Stay hydrated, like, way hydrated, all the time.

Google "dysphagia and xerostomia"

You might want to check the ticker while you at it. My dad's heart doctor told him it's a sign of heart disease.

Go have a endoscopy done. Might be acid reflux or even allergy related if you notice it with specific food/drink.

One of my friends just surgery related to the same issues that you've described. I would see a GI doctor.

I suffer from it as well, i have to get my throat stretched which helps it tremendously. There is nothing I've figured out to stop it. Only thing is make sure you chew your food really good and slow down eating. Other than than that it's very irritating when you can't enjoy a steak because you know you won't be able to swallow it.

Could be hielated hernia. Nexium can help. Go see a doctor. You may need to get your esophagus stretched.

If you're in Baton Rouge area, Dr. Benton Oubre is a great GI doctor.
