Did you know 7-11 was owned by a Japanese company?

7-Eleven’s Parent Will Buy Sunoco’s Convenience Stores: LINK

I was reading through that and a bit surprised to learn that 7-11 was a Japanese owned company. They have tons of them throughout Asia so makes sense. HQ is in Irving though.

Side note, not many Japanese companies have the branding that those in the US have, or at least international recognition. Beyond Sony, Toyota, and Nintendo are there any Japanese companies you can think of off the top of your head? There's the one that makes zippers too.

Toyota does its best to keep NASCAR relevant, too, not to mention what it does for the American workforce.

Some people get way too caught up in the flags pictured next to the corporate ownership.

To the OP's point, Japanese corporations tend to be massive conglomerations. They don't create subsidiaries for each and every brand.

Yes. The dont make game consoles anymore but they are still a decent sized publisher of home and arcade games.

The first 24 hour convenient store was a 7-11 by the University of Texas.

In 1946, in an effort to continue the company's post-war recovery, the name of the franchise was changed to 7-Eleven to reflect the stores' new hours of operation, which were unprecedented at the time. In 1969, 7-Eleven experimented with a 24-hour schedule in Austin, Texas, after an Austin store stayed open all night to satisfy customer demand.[4] Later on, 24-hour stores were established in Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas, as well as Las Vegas, Nevada.[9] In 1971, Southland acquired convenience stores of the former Pak-A-Sak chain owned by Graham Allen Penniman, Sr. (1903–1985), of Shreveport, Louisiana.[10][11]

And now you know the rest of the story. I'm colorchangintiger, Good Day!

Not exactly, they are just buying the B&M stores, not the fuel company

It's been years since I have even seen a 7-11. Didn't know they were still in business.
