I'm thinking of buying a water bed for nostalgic sake. Don't see them very often anymore.

Despite my username, I always hated waterbeds. My dad had one and I straight up would sleep on the floor instead of that thing sometimes. The wood frames they come in are uncomfortable and sometimes I would hit them when rolling over in my sleep, susceptible to leaks, I hated the plastic feel of the mattress itself and the sloshing inside as it would give while you turn. Don't know why they were ever popular.

They’re fantastic and if you ever piss the bed you can just blame it on a leak.

Nostalgia? Don't get a waveless then.

ETA: Before debit cards I'd keep my thousands under the mattress safe from a fire

Buddy of mine had one for years. It always seemed like secks would be tough on it, but he said it was all good. Maybe some older Gen X and boomers can elaborate how you would get leverage on a moving bed.

I have one of the OG ones growing up then one of the ones with the tubes in college. I don’t think my back could handle sleeping on one now.

I had one in HS and some of College, was great for sleeping, but much like fricking in a swimming pool, or on a sandy beach..was no bueno for sex.

did it have good acoustics for the banjo when your dad would play the theme song from Deliverance before y'all went to "sleep?"

Laying on one of those damn things smashed drunk wasn't a pleasant experience

I knew a guy in college who had one. He passed out drunk on it one night when the bed’s heater was off. He woke up hours later and the cold bed had sapped away a lot of his body temperature. Sounded awful.

A friend in high school had one. He was playing around with a 45 caliber pistol in his room and didn’t realize it had a round chambered. He pointed it at the bed and fired. The bullet damaged the flooring under the bed but did such little damage to the bed itself he was able to patch it before his parents came home.

In HS I had the big bladder kind inherited from an older sibling, the traditional kind most people think of. Later, post LSU undergrad I had the kind with a number of long tubes that held water, much more stable and very comfortable.
