I mean back in the day, brothels and the like were basically a fact of life- hell, prior to syphillis hitting the Old World the only things they really worried about wouldn't kill you. I mean it probably sucked to be a woman largely (no birth control would have been a major bummer) but for men- it was probably even easier to get laid-- though a lot of that was less than consensual.

I've seen something on the History Channel where they've found what they assumed were Brothels in Pompeii,I believe.There were painting over each room which showed what was offered in that room.
