I recently received a Garmin Vivosmart watch as a gift and have been reminded how sedentary the desk job lifestyle can be. I've started doing stair-runs every hour or so and I was wondering: what have y'all incorporated into your daily activities to stay active?

I bang women on my my desk. I also try to walk the stairs twice a day. I try to do as much as possible without actually sweating, for purposes of remaining professional.

Walk around the building to 'wake up' after lunch. Walk to co-workers' offices I need to speak with instead of calling or emailing.

I do this. Sometimes bring my phone along and play mobile games for a couple of minutes or set my Fanduel lineups.

Same here. Although, I still walk around a little out of breath right afterwards. I sometimes wonder if people think "Dang, he's out of shape - always panting just from walking around."

That actually sounds like a great fitness initiative for any company.

I work on the 4th floor so I take the stairs every time. I haven't used the elevator in my office in over a month. Still, most of my 10,000-12,000 steps a day occur after work at home when I am moving around the house, walking the dog etc...

It's also the annoying bureaucratic type of shite meant for dumb people that annoys employees in a professional setting. We don't do this but my GF's firm does. They have to pick team names and do team activities, everyone but the named partnership hates it because they all work 70 hours a week already.

Sitting at a desk all day to earn a living has to suck.
Couldn't do it.

Screw all that. I'm in a dang suit. I have an assigned parking space 3 feet from the front door. If I have to go from my office to the other side of the building, I get in my car and drive. Not to mention if I have to cross the campus to one of the other buildings. I walk to the bathroom. If it's not too cold, I'll walk to the cafeteria for lunch, but if it's cold, I'll drive over there.

I run about 3 or 4 miles every night either on the treadmill or on the road.

Tricep dips on my chair at work is about as strenuous as it gets. Get up and make coffee twice a day and go outside to take a couple of smoke breaks. I do have to bow up on the sliding gate every night when I go home.
I know, it's trashy.

I drink lots of water during the day and eat a high protein diet. This translates into frequent walks to the bathroom.
