And David Duke getting over 60% of the White La. Vote( I've heard 70% White male).
Its more mainstream in the GOP now.
Scalise called himself "David Duke without the baggage".

There's nothing arbitrary about his 1990 threshold. It is what it is. That's tbe OP quantifying his question.

We still produce great musicians. Our chefs still concoct fantastic new recipes. BR still leads the nation in traffic per capita, While it's not as bad as it used to be, Louisiana politics are still corrupt. LSU Tailgating is more out of control than it was in the 80s, Lafayette is about to repeat the 80's oil crunch in a big way.

IDGAF how many times it's posted. It should be posted in every post of this thread, and the thread should extend for 1 billion pages of nothing but this, and it still wouldn't be enough

It's funny, on an LSU message board, there's been several Saints posts, but no acknowledgement of the fact that Pre-1990 LSU was, at best, considered by in large a second tier football power, with a single mythical NC title that, by that time, was seen as little more than a historical fluke/anomaly.

People are really doom and gloom about Lafayette economy. Do you think it will get that bad?

Lafayette lives and dies by the price of oil. Oil is low. Lafayette can survive low oil prices in the short term, but not if they stay that way. If oil doesn't get back to close to where it was in the next year or two, Lafayette could be hurting for a long time.

Can you blame them? His opposition was Edwin Edwards, who had already stolen tens, if not hundreds, of millions from state coffers and funneled it to his friends and family.

Can't the same be said for Lake Charles and Houma?

Yeah, but Edwards won the election with over 60% of the vote. I'm wondering if that was possible with the numbers sugar provided. And if not, why the need to use inaccurate information instead of just saying something along the lines of "racism is still prevalent in Louisiana?"

Yes for Houma, not so much for Lake Charles as Chuck also has petrochemicals and refining. Low crude prices actually increase the profit margins on refined oil and petrochemicals that use crude as a feed stock.

Well, the state was approximately 65/35 white/black at the time. Therefor, 32 white male/33 white female, 17 black male, 18 black female.
Assuming 100% black vote for Edwin, David Duke would have only needed to get half of the white women vote and 70% of the white male vote to achieve those numbers. That would put him at receiving 39% of the total vote to Edwards's 61%. Which matches what we saw.

Right, but this is still speculating. I'm just wondering about the actual numbers. I tried doing a quick search, but didn't see anything.
