I know I went to class the day after the Saints won the Super Bowl but all I remember was walking in and sitting down, and then getting up and walking out.

A lot of them were excused. The schools allowed that if they called the day before and let them know they would be missing school.

When the Royals won the World Series, all of the schools in the metro closed so the kids and teachers could go to the parade.
