I had a small upright deep freezer in my garage that just crapped out today, so I am in the market for a new deep freezer.

Considering it will be in the garage- will a frost free freezer be better than a manual? My old upright was manual defrost and always had ice buildup at the top. I was thinking frost free might be better due to humidity and heat in the garage.

I mainly will use it to store meat, fish, and veggies, and I open it about once a week to get something out (more of an overflow freezer).

Thoughts?

Manual. just empty the fricker out and defrost it once a quarter. Frost-free has more to go wrong and obviously cost a bit more.

Absolutely. they're $50+ cheaper for the smaller ones and over $100 cheaper as you get medium sized.

You can try to use one but it won't hold much.

Is this common with the Tiny House movement?
