I spent a lot of time in rural Ky as a kid helping my grandfather and uncles farm. There was extreme poverty and many kids would just quit school after 8 th grade to farm. Some of the stuff I saw there was like a 3rd world country.

In the interview I posted, the author makes note of the fact that the power they have over serpents in these church services, is the only power many of these people have.

Anybody who's seriously interested in this phenomenon, I encourage you to go watch the interview I linked on the first page of this thread. There's a lot of fascinating information. The author actually took up snakes himself for a time. Crazy as their methods may be, they are tapping into some kind of deeply spiritual experience.
