Sometimes I cut all ties for a week or so, but I let everyone know beforehand. Very irresponsible, and I'd fire him if there wasn't a good explanation as to why he couldn't call or drive 45 minutes to let people know what's going on. Wouldn't want him teaching my kids

Fire him for what? Did he miss work? Sometimes people just need to check out for a short time. He might have had a rough holidays and needed some time alone before school started back

Don't care. In public, he'll be forever known as the guy who ran away for a few days and I wouldn't want that at my school. It is and will be seen as irresponsible. Teachers are a dime a dozen

He went to Gulfport for a day without checking in with anyone. Sounds like you are advocating for a nanny state where we have to check in with others when we go out of town for a day or two. Make sure you have your papers next time you travel comrade.

I don't follow how him going missing because his mom is a worrisome twat makes two shits about how he teaches your kids.

Well you should care idiot. You can't just fire people for going to Gulfport on their day off because you read about it on social media. You actually have to have cause to fire somebody. Going to MS on your days off does not constitute cause.

Screw you. Why does an adult have to check in on his time off?

Not generally, but with teachers you often do.

Fire him? Overreact much? Did you get abandoned as a child or something to make you so super sensitive? The guy is an adult.

Not if you dont have a legit reason. If one of my employees went missing for a day I certainly wouldnt fire him....... ESPECIALLY if it was on his DAY OFF.
