So let me start by saying, it's a rather long video... but it's fricking brilliant the shite that DARPA is coming up with...

As a veteran, it absolutely hits home with me... If you've got 45min or so, check it out... at least watch the first ~10 min and see the "Iron Curtain Anti-RPG system" which is AMAZING..

So I just finished the whole video and was blown away by some of the ish that DARPA is putting out there... wow is all I have to say.

I HIGHLY suggest watching it if you're bored one evening.

There's a anti-RPG system called "Iron Curtain" that actively detects incoming RPG's and drops like a 'laser-like curtain' down right before the RPG impacts the vehicle.

There's a 'dolphin-like' swimming system that helps swimmer's efficiency by 75%... Basically, swim nearly twice as fast while exuding about a 10th of the effort.

There was a robotic exo-suit that allows people to lift 100lbs as if it was 10lbs... still able to run, climb stairs, volleyball, etc... very cool.

There was a backpack deployed UAV that can run for like 4hours with day/night vision camera capability from a NEO-GEO like handheld controller/viewer with up to a 3 mile range

A unmanned helicopter that can be programmed to mission specs and can carry a load of up to 1,000 pounds and stay in the air for a record breaking 18+ hours! (Also, just started testing 'The Forester' attachment that can penetrate up to three canopies of tree cover for human signatures. (Imagine the search & rescue capability ))

Last was a small IED hovercopter that can differentiate from ground temp vs foreign object as well as identify a man-sized silhouette from up to 800m

VERY cool stuff...

eta: There were also some "gloves" which were heat/cold sapping to warm freezing people and cool overheated people... dude was in a 108º "heat room" on a treadmill and got his core temp to 102º and cooled to normal in like 30 seconds. Same with a dude sitting *IN* an ice bath, stopped shivering and 'felt' warmer... crazy

Cool stuff! I also liked the "gloves" that can raise or lower body temperature in 30 seconds. Helping soldiers recover from heat stroke/heat exhaustion or freezing temps. That one had lots of non-military applications.

Thanks for posting the cliffs for those of us not bored.
Pretty damn cool stuff. We are growing up fast. Life has changed more in the last 5-10 years (particularly the socialism aspect) more so than the previous 40 combined.

Oh it starts out and they say that "We hit many roadblocks during our first ever interview inside of DARPA" and then showed clips of PM's saying "Yeah, let's not go down that road" and "I don't think I feel comfortable talking about that right now"
