But again, every time I read these stories i say "I am 100% sure this will never happen to me."
Do you do this often?

A woman and a man who were staying at the hotel told police they met Shaver in the hallway and went to his room to take shots of alcohol. While in the room, he took out a pellet gun and said it was his job to kill birds that get inside Walmart stores. The woman told police Shaver and the other man were pointing the rifle outside the hotel window before police arrived, and she told them to stop because they were drunk.

System is working.
When this guy goes to trial, and the video is played in front of a jury of his peers, then the system is working.
The DA, LEO, and the union will do anything and everything they can to make sure that doesn't happen.
As it stands, the dude won't spend a day in prison, and possibly go back to work as an LEO. Is this the system you support, the one you say is working?

Brailsford and other officers had instructed Shaver to crawl toward them with his hands in the air, according to police reports. They said he reached behind his back he would be shot. Brailsford said he opened fire after Shaver reached toward his waistline, possibly to pull up his shorts, according to police reports.
so they warned him not to move his hands or he would be shot.....he moved his hands and got shot

If you drink to excess you should worry about being murdered by the police.

Clearly showed a clear and present danger to the officers. I am sure they were petrified of a guy in boxers and an undershirt crawling on his belly begging for his life.

If he's convicted of murder by a jury then it's working. If's he's found innocent by a jury then it's working. The OT would find all cops guilty and there would be no cops at all.
I don't want a system whereby the OT can convict a man. That's for sure.

So if the DA succeeds in suppressing this video from the public, and the cop pleads out to a nonprison term and there is no trial, you still think it's working?

Like I said, IF the video ever is played in front of a jury, then the system is working. You can play it off like you don't know what's going on here, but I suspect you do. The DA is covering for this guy, yet you don't see the problem. There won't be a trial.

You are stupid. Plain and simple you are stupid. I bet you can't even dress yourself in the mornings. I would be surprised if you can tie your shoes.

Every time someone says this, they should be killed and eaten.

You had to be "that guy" didn't you. Daniel was begging them not to shoot him. Maybe cops shouldn't be so quick to unholster their weapons. In fact all of them don't need to be armed at all or at most have a weapon in their vehicle. Without the use of firearms they would be forced to utilize other means to diffuse situations
Ok.
That's all fine and dandy until hoodrat Jamarcus or white trash Johnny pulls a gun on them and they pull a can of pepper spray. Who wins that altercation?

There are checks and balances for this type of behavior. I'm all for letting it play out before I bitch and moan.
If there's good video it should be released unless it's needed for trial. I don't know this DA's record with cops or his beliefs on the case. He's submitted for a murder charge so I'm not sure what else you want at this point.
Do DA's release evidence to the public often if they feel it may hurt their case? It appears that he wants to keep the evidence for the court room. 2nd degree murder when a cop claims a good shot seems pretty legit to me.

Are you suggesting a massive population being armed causes life threatening problems for law enforcement?

Yea, that's it.

That had zero to do with the moment a cop shot him 5 times while he was pleading for his life and unarmed. As for your example, calling the cops at any time can culminate with you being shot by them for any reason. This was an execution. That's why they don't want the video released.
You're wasting your time. Some just can't get past their preconceived notions

Oh man, you're good. I seriously doubt you'll bitch and moan when a fellow LEO walks after beating a 2nd degree murder charge with a sweet heart deal that lets him get back to LEO in a couple of years.

I'd like him to take off the sweetheart negligent homicide plea and actually take the charges to court. We both know that won't happen. We both know why. Why you can't say that out loud baffles me.

That's a full load of bullshite. He wants to "keep the evidence for the courtroom", but when the guy pleads out, there won't be a trial. The public won't see the tape, the guy walks on a light charge, and the public remains in the dark. That you either don't see this or agree with this says a lot about you.

Then how do you explain other countries that have similar demographics and income with far less crime, and far less LEO mortality?

You seem to have a crystal ball. Give me the winners for all the baseball games for the day please.
You also seem to have this huge conspiracy figured out. Hopefully someone will care enough to call you out if this doesn't go the way your crystal ball predicts.
I wouldn't expect you to come back and post that you were wrong so I'm sure someone will have to do it for you. It won't be me. I don't care enough to call you out if you are wrong.

Just saw this...
Please don't mistake me for someone that gives a hill of beans what you think of me.

quote:here is the problem with the video. If the video shows five minutes of the cops being assholes to a drunk dude with a bb gun, it would sway a few on the jury to convict. No matter how the last few seconds play out, no matter how justifiable or not the shooting was...the emotional nature of todays America will override the shooting itself.
So if the DA succeeds in suppressing this video from the public, and the cop pleads out to a nonprison term and there is no trial, you still think it's working?
Should a cop that was humiliating a suspect, or berating him be fired....yes, immediately. Should they go to jail for life for being a douche?
The issue with the video is not the video, it is the potential audience.

I'd like him to take off the sweetheart negligent homicide plea and actually take the charges to court.
quote:The fact that you think the public MUST see it prior to a jury is just you whining. Why are you so entitled to see this tape that it upsets you so? Whiny and morbid.
