Him to stay with them for a couple of days. He agreed. When he showed up though, this family member freaked out that he brought his dogs with him (anyone who knows my dad knows he absolutely lives for his dogs so it should t have been a surprise). Thought he should have left them behind at the house. Off handed tried to turn him away because of this and then turned it into a "I'm so generous for letting you stay but the dogs have to stay in the car,". Having a hard time not texting this family member to tell them what I think of that attitude.

FWIW, these aren't bull mastiffs. They're fricking ship tzus.

I don't agree with your fan member who suggests they should have been left, but Your dad should have clarified in advance he was bringing the pups, without question. That is pretty bold to assume it was okay.

I'm not sure what the communication was there honestly. But I have a hard time believing this person didn't know.

Not to mention, this family member has showed up to our house with dogs before completely unannounced

I don't understand how it wouldn't have been mentioned in passing in the conversation setting up the visit unless he wasn't sure they would be down with the dogs so he just wanted to wing it when he got there.

Evacuating from one double wide to another seems like a net zero. Should have just ridden it out at home with the pits.

Normal people know that you don't leave pets behind when you evacuate.

shitty situation...however, there is no point in everyone freaking out and having a bunch of drama over it. he either needs to find a kennel or a hotel (like la quinta) that will accept them.

Come on Rouge...at this point it is not too bad. When the whole thing comes out how they fought in the front yard, a dog escaped and was eaten by the trailer park enforcer pit, a gun was present and his Dad had to sleep on the couch.....

on the porch...Then it is trashy.

OP. Text that frickin frick and offer to drive over there and take the dogs for the time. And tell him he's a fricking poontang. We have three of them dogs. They don't bother a god damned thing. that family member.

I live 1500 miles away. I mean, I know the situation will resolve itself just fine. My dad is perfectly capable doing whatever needs to be done. I just find it shocking that someone would be pissy about taking dogs with them during an evacuation.

All joking aside, it is pretty small of someone to get upset at a time when everyone is trying to make do and stressed.

I'm sure things will be fine....

People show their true colors in situations like this.

And sometimes it's not pretty.

That's what I personally learned from some of my family members after the flood in BR.

How bad could it be to put up with a family members dogs for a day or two? Especially if you keep them crated and take care of them yourself?

Reminds me of this story:
Wife's family is from Coast of Mississippi. After Katrina, we kept, here in Alabama, all of her family, dogs, etc.(total 5 people, 4 dogs)
Wife's sister and husband, both from MS, who also live in Alabama, told both of their families they are not welcome to stay with them, because they were "busy with work".
