Replacing cabinets after flooding and trying to get a good idea of cost. My previous cabinet shop flooded and they are trying to get back in business but haven't been able to give me a price yet. Anyone have any idea per foot what #2 cypress custom cabinets are going for? Thanks.

$3.50 per sf is going rate for #2 cypress board. No idea on finished cabinet cost but would imagine $120 per LF is a good starting point.

How does the price of crypress cabinets fluctuate? Based on the finish? Based on the quality of cypress?

The price fluctuates with the cost of lumber.

The price I quoted is installed and unfinished. You will need to have someone stain and seal them.

Cypress is graded, #1 being clear with no knots, #2 being with solid knots (less expensive than #1) And then there's reclaimed cypress, which, depending on character, is usually much higher priced. Depending on the features of the cabinets, level of detail would make the price vary.

#2 at C&S and Service Lumber I believe is around $2.10 a board foot. We just have 1x8 mostly 12 and 16 foot long.

Looking at around $1.40 a linear foot.

Prices vary a lot....
The type of hardware meaning soft close hinges and drawer glides vs conventional. Amount of drawers vs doors.
Raised panels vs flat panels.
Trim and finish package.
There is a ton that goes into this and it all cost. Anyone in need can email me. I'll be done with my current customer on this Saturday.

The average cost per linear ft is around $1.30 to $2.00 depending on the quality and the your location as well. You should also consider the installation cost, contractors usually charge $40 to $50 per hour for the installation of the cabinets. The cabinets cost about 75% of the total cost so for a project with 30 linear ft. of cabinetry, in can cost around $25,000(LINK ). Do consider using a different material or a way to lessen the cost of the cabinets but if you have a budget then try to maximize your cabinet. Also ask for different quotations from different contractors to get the average cost.

Such as wood meant for painting as opposed to staining?

Or what would be something similar to Cypress but less expensive and perhaps harder wood?

According to everyone in the Les Miles home for sale thread last week, cypress cabinets are trashy and bring down the value of your home. So maybe you can buy the ones out of that house.
