I'm not sure if this just a local thing, but I've noticed a lot of Chicago's urban youth are sporting heavy metal t-shirts (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeath, etc.)

Have any of you noticed this in or around your area? It's kinda funny...odd...but funny nonetheless.

I see it around the Chocolate City as well... First one I saw was a brother wearing a Metallica shirt... I was like, hhhmmmm that's interesting...

Also seen a young black girl wearing an AC/DC shirt..

They buy them at Walmart and have no idea what music the bands even play. They likely don't even know they're wearing band shirts.

I have noticed this in Texas as well. I think it is great. I think Kanye started this trend. Very strange. Maybe they will give metal a listen now............

Black people are always trying to make something trendy and cool that previously wasn't trendy and cool.

Wearing cartoon backpacks. Wearing thick geeky glasses, wearing heavy metal t shirts, pretending to like soccer since it's trendy, etc.

Heavy metal cowboy culture is alive and well in Botswana. Maybe they're copying the homeland.

They sell those metal band t shirts at urban outfitters, apparently it's some kind of trend. Next time you see them ask if they can even name a single Metallica song

They stole that from hipsters like a lot of other trends.

I've seen it here too.

I just figured it's like their cultural appropriation of our NASCAR jackets. Bastards.

They can have my dead horse shirt when they peel it off my blood-soaked back.

Oh, and no self-respecting 'head would wear a tee without tour dates on the back.

If not from the show, will not go.

I guess this is better than some of their trends...

I was in New York this weekend and saw a ton of old school Metallica shirts on urban youth. I also saw two with guys 45 to 50 wearing WU-Tang gear

Other trends were Euros wearing tight shorts with the legs tight rolled.
