Restaurant ice cubes have been proven to contain coliform bacteria. Coliforms are gram-negative non-spore forming bacterium found in human feces. They are the most common bacterial indicator of the sanitary conditions in restaurants, bars, and other food-serving establishments. A team of microbiologists from Hollins University confirmed that up to 48% of restaurant soda fountains are contaminated with coliform bacteria. Yuck!

We have this one. There was this exact model in the house when we bought it but the previous owner did no maintenance on it and and about a year later it took a dump and needed well over $1k worth of work. You would think the guy who owns one of the largest restaurants in Mandeville would know that an ice maker is supposed to have a filter on the water line. The repair guy said the whole machine was just messed up from mineral deposits that repairs would get really costly quickly. I bought the new one from this same company. The cube let machines are quite a bit more expensive than cubes but it's hard to go back LOL.
