Yes, if they had a family member or not. They hate out way of life, and would do it to any of us in a heartbeat. I'm with Howard Stern on this one, I say put every one of those mother frickers down for good.

Torturing gains valuable info that leads to saving western lives.

I like to think I'd begin with a method I heard talked about by an old timer around a campfire.

1. Take them to an empty shack in the middle of a compound.
2. Sit them down in a chair that is fastened to the floor, in the middle of the shack.
3. Staple/nail their nutsack/shaft to the seat of the chair.
4. Give them a rusty/dull knife.
5. Light the shack on fire.
6. ???
7. Profit, by self castration.

It's troubling to be how few people get this. I hope it's just talk and this would prevail in reality. It also helps that we still live in a society where few would get the opportunity.

Most subjects will break on an approach short of torture.

Torture is neither desired, nor necessarily effective in 99.9999% of interrogations because the information gleaned will be of very suspect value without other corroboration. To that end, I do not believe that "rough" interrogation methods constitute torture, either. I'm talking about climate control, sleep deprivation, even drug assisted interrogation - nothing that causes permanent damage to the subject should rightly be considered torture in the modern age.

There is an axiom in human intelligence: "Everybody wants to tell everyone else, everything they know, all the time." All one has to do is facilitate that to break a subject during interrogation. Again, with torture, you're likely to get the answers the subject thinks you want. I certainly don't want that - I want accurate information.

"Torture" is a tool of sadists.

(ETA: Nevermind - I thought we were trying to prevent something. To answer the OP's question - I would merely execute the terrorist under your hypothetical.)

I've always that it would be cool to tie one down in a big ant pile and check back the next day. Maybe pour some grease or something on them

I would most definitely torture the frick out of them.

Even if none of my family was hurt by them.

I would do it just because terrorists are the scum of the earth and they need to fricking fear me.

Yeah, I'm more talking about retribution/revenge for killing your loved one. I can imagine the hate and anger I would have towards someone who brutally murdered a family member or your child. Especially people like these ISIS animals who show no remorse. Oh frick I would hurt them.

I don't think I would.

But I would tell them they're dying for nothing, their entire life was a farce and we're going to ultimately prevail and destroy everything they foolishly care about.

Then I'd kill him and try and get on with my life.

This is an incorrect line of thinking that many people use. Terrorist attack innocent people, torturing a terrorist in not attacking an innocent person, therefore torturing a terrorist does not put you on their level.
