Is it possible to go over the top of the glue down? Not sure what type of flooring you are going with.

hiring - i think i could remove the old flooring but not sure what to do with old "glue" residue?
I wonder if I could save some money to demo what I can and and let the contractor remove the old glue and install the floors or just let him do it all?
the house is about 10 years old and was installed with builders standard small plank that has been discountinued and its not the quality type that I would want to sand and refinish. thx

What type of floors are currently in place?
What type do you want installed?
The answer is DIY either way. However, the price to hire it out changes based on what you are having done.

slab area, remove old 2 inch wood glue down and replace it with whatever type we decide to go with.

after looking at videos - i would be comfortable removing old flooring, but i'd rather not install the flooring.

Wood floor colored carpet.

Depends on what you go back with. Tile or stain and all the glue will have to be removed and yes it will be a pain in the arse.

It's not that hard the flooring comes in boxes precut
sizes just overlap ends at least 6" cut the ones that
butt to wall with a chop saw and use leftover board as starer board. Spread glue as needed about 3 or 4 runs.
Have a rag with mineral spirits to clean glue off wood as installing.
As for cost i would charge, double the cost of material then add 10 to 15 percent to total.

Tile is 1.50-2 dollar a square foot but double cost for all needed supplies to put it in. Wood can go from 1.50-10 dollars a square foot depending if it engineered hardwood or all wood. Do you have pets? Will factor in which one you go with. Also these prices are with DIY. I am going with the engineered snap in hardwood since I have dogs these hold up better. With wood make sure the wood is hard enough for you. The wood I absolutely love is so easy to scratch I can't use it.

Rip up a glue down $3sqft
Install glued down $3sqft
Cost of wood

Your current hardwood is glued down to the slab? We had to have a plywood subfloor because of the slab. Or is yours engineered? Maybe you could use your current floor as the subfloor. Of course, I actually know nothing, so there ya go.
