I'm locked in at $64 for 24 months. But I would be fine with paying in the $80 range. Before cutting I was paying around $150 for cable/internet. frick that.

That's my thing. It's not worth it for me to use my cousin's content provider password and jump through hoops for some shitty streams when I can just pay a few bucks more and get all the sports I want without any issues.

This is where I am. Plus, as soon as they have killed the cord they will figure out how to kill password sharing then we are back to square one with shitty apps and streams and freaking old school ANTENAES!

This explains the recent massive directv pricing drop.

Fire TV with PSVue, Netflix, and HBO added through Amazon. HD antenna for football and local news.

So you are still paying around $60/month for TV?

You are comparing apples to apples and oranges.

Are you trying to be the douche contrarian in every thread, or does it just come natural?

First. You pay too much for internet. Second, it isn't all about saving money. I like having the freedom to watch what I want when I want. Need HBO? Sign up for a few months and cancel it. OnDemand and no contracts is why I cut the cord. I have no desire to call every 6 months and ask for a discounted rate because my DIRECTV Bill jumped to $115.

I cut the cord 5 years ago and went with an antenna and an HTPC for streaming. Like another poster mentioned, we now do other things instead of watch so much TV, not to mentioned the money saved in doing so.

However, with Netflix, Amazon and some other sources, there is enough content for our three kids. We limit the amount of TV they watch, anyway.

Not really. It's visual entertainment. I get everything I need through the internet.

Please tell me how buying a subscription package of channels online is so vastly different than paying for cable?

Until we can buy single channels, it's no different.

Part of what happens when most people cut the cord is they start watching fewer things in general. After a while you realize how much shite you watched just because, how much time was wasted on things you wouldn't go out of your way to watch if it wasn't just there on a path of least resistance.

This is absolutely what happened with us. 99.9999% of TV is absolute garbage. We usually just listen to music in the evenings now. When we build our new house we won't have a TV in the living room.

Interesting, but I'm not doing it just yet... I don't mind a couple extra bucks a month for convenience and ease of use.

That's something that I noticed immediately. When I had cable the normal routine was to get home, plop down in front of the TV and start browsing. Now it's completely different.

My kids watch Netflix or YouTube, if at all. TV doesn't interest them. Sports on TV doesn't interest them. Times are changing.

I am now paying $64ish. Before I paid 118, and I have no idea why.
