I drive across Missouri and Illinois all the time and rarely see highway patrolmen, let alone city cops on the interstates. Driving back to MS, I see 5-6 cops with people pulled over within an hour not to mention the small town cops sitting on the side of the interstate. Don’t they have anything better to do?

Serious law enforcement is a net financial drain. Low level law enforcement is a financial boon.

The overwhelming majority of the police force are tax collectors with a badge and a gun.

The last time I was pulled over on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois by Illinois sheriffs was one of the most corrupt stops I've ever had.

They pulled me over for following too closely....on the interstate, and when I asked for the appropriate following car length in Illinois, they told me it was at the officer's discretion.

His partner flashed me a baggie he "found" in my rental car that I only had for two to three days. He asked if it was mine, and I told him hell no, and his prints were the only thing on it.

They also ticket warnings there. To which I received for a potential fine I would've had that doesn't have an established metric by the state.

Frick Illinois and any other yankee state that thinks their coppers are clean. They just hide their corruption better.

In my area, this is what they do in their downtime.

I drove across the state of Missouri on the move out to Oregon a few years ago and saw more cops with cars pulled over in that state than I've ever seen in my life.

I said at the time that I hoped to never have to drive through that state again. Hitting Nebraska and 80 mph speed limits was quite a contrast.

Didnt a cop not from the south recently get charged with murder of a black man that set off riots all across the country?

Try pissing off cops in Miami. Before Rodney King ever happened, we had a guy named Arthur McDuffie. King lived to tell his story. McDuffie did not.

Word for word this happens to me in Kansas. Was following a coworker heading south from near Colorado. The only rental I could get was an electric blue Chrysler 300 with rims and dark tint. We passeda sheriff in the median of the highwaY and he followed me and radioed his buddy to come up too. He followed me til they were together and then they pulled both of us over. He gave us that excuse! So i asked him what did that other car get pulled over for. He told me he didn’t know. So I told him we both know this is bull shite cause I was following that guy. He ran my insurance and let me go. Three miles down the road we passed a state trooper sitting in the median over a bridge. He follows us and runs my plates, then pulls up next to me in the fast lane. After an awkward few seconds I look at him and he throws me deuces and proceeds to run my buddies plates in front of me. He never pulled us over but they thought we was running pot from state to state
