Think about it, though. Shepherds are high energy and incredibly social. The moment you get out the car, they whine and bark. You know he heard the dog.
This officer probably killed his own partner.

Can you give an example of when a civilian accidentally killed a police dog and was charged for "killing a cop".

Dude, WHAT THE frick. That's fricking ridiculous. The cop went in to do fricking paperwork for 6 hours and didn't think to check on his dog? Are you fricking kidding me?
Aside from animal cruelty, it is a HUGE waste of resources. You have taken the time to invest in the training of this dog and you throw it away because you're too fricking lazy to walk back down to your car and let your dog out?
shite, I've seen cops sit there and let their cars run on a hot day just because they don't want it to be hot when they get back into it and gas is covered by the department. frick this dude. It's one thing to kill a dog or an individual because you think you have to to secure the scene or your life is threatened, but to kill an animal that cannot save itself because of neglect? frick him.
