I'm sure it was a lot more, looks like they took some out as none of these overlap each other.

Let's see, about 60 planes = 7.5 planes per hour or one plane every 8 minutes. Is that reasonable for an LAX runway? The photographer also said he didn't get every plane, but most of them.

Someone asked him that on reddit and here was his answer

quote:

They aren't all departures, all the time. There are a lot of lulls. A lot of traffic is early in the AM (domestic) and later at night (transpacific, for example, all the Oz/Nz flights). They aren't taking off all the time on both runways. Sometimes 20-30 minutes go by without anything noteworthy happening, but the other side of the complex is hopping. ALL of the Southwest traffic is on the north side, so I missed what are probably 100 departures/arrivals by one airline alone. I also didn't include most of the private/GA aircraft because they were already flying over my camera at this point.

The big thing is that it isn't constant all the time. There are lulls, there are hot periods, and I didn't feel a need to show 25 AA or United 737s.

This is only one half of the airport. If you see the terminal, behind that is another set of 2 runways. I also omitted some regional jets for aesthetic purposes (mostly American legacy carriers) because I didn't need 15 RJs in the shot, ya know?

The fact this wasn't posted until the second page after people were all bewildered in page 1 is so concerning

The plane on the bottom, just to the left, definitely belongs to the rebel alliance.
