Contractor issue, possibly legal

So I hired a contractor to enclose my back patio awhile back and ended up firing him after he did what he wanted instead of what he was told.
Basically he quoted my roof and patio separate and when he did the roof he quoted things that were not done. The final straw came when he was working in the patio and he put up 36x32 windows 2hen I requested 40x32 or 36x36 windows, his excuse was he could not find any. (There were more issues than that but that was the final straw)
Well now today after it rain my back patio has a leak, when he was hired he guaranteed his work and he was insured. He claims since he was fired he is not responsible for fixing the leak when he put the roof up.
Am I sol, contact a lawyer on Monday, suck it up an pay someone else. Because yes I paid him for finishing the roof. Also he received partial payment for the patio but I've eaten that since it isn't worth what I paid to fight for it.
I do plan on contacting a lawyer on Monday to find out my actual options but sometimes this board gives good advice. The contractor is not on BBB and was recommended by another contractor who was too busy to take on another job.

I mean, if you fire someone before he finishes the job....

He finished the roof part, not the patio part. However, I'm pissed my roof was leaking today after all of that he still did a shitty job.

Contact La Home Builders- he is licensed?
Call BBB
if no luck call a real contractor

He will simply say he was fired before he had the ability to properly finish job and therefore cannot guarantee unfinished work. You will have no recourse IMO but you can always try.
Good luck.
Good luck.

He is licensed but not on BBB or Yelp, basically a new start-up company.

Who finished the job, i would contact that person

I'm hoping the fact we were quoted a price on the roof and one on the patio and he was paid for the roof will show he completed the work.

Well if they were set up as two different contracts you may have a case.

Honduran....
Yes I have 2 different pieces of paper with 2 quotes, one just for the roof and one just for the patio

Head over to the Home Depot around 5:30am. You're welcome

Is it a metal roof? You could get a roll of roofing tape and do it yourself.

No a flat roof, didn't want to tie into my house (I should have) so he came and did a rolled roof.

Yeah guess I'm mainly mad because I didn't pursue legal action after he was fired to get back my deposit and now I'm having issues and I may have to hire someone else.

Leaking roofs with a connected porch can happen. You will spend more fighting him than getting someone to repair it.

File complaint with the State board of Genrslcontractors. Assuming he is licensed and u have a binding contractors

Would binding be a contract with his company letter head, my signature, his signature, and details of what he would do with cost?
