Thinking about hiring an individual to paint kitchen cabinets and replace backsplash. Would you guys recommend drawing up a simple document that will guarantee the work for say 1 year?

Good luck getting an individual to sign it, let alone it be simple to get them to actually come do touch-up work. They will just say you caused it.
I do stuff like this on the side and it is known that the price you pay is due to the job and warranty you get.

Good luck findinf someone to do the work much less signing a contract
