I'm been very reflective lately thinking about how small, yet unique our world is in the grand scheme of things. It amazes me that we are at just the right spot away from a middle-aged yellow dwarf star, with just the right atmosphere, ample water, an iron core shielding us from radiation, a little wobble on our axis to warm us evenly, a perfectly sized moon to keep our oceans sloshing about just enough. Just wow.

And yet, our existence is confined to a small slither of the surface. And just 60 miles above us is the vastness of space. A NASA website says:

quote:

If the Earth were the size of a basketball, the thickness of the atmosphere could be modeled by a thin sheet of plastic wrapped around the ball.

I totally get why Musk and Bezos want to explore space. This world seems so fleeting. It's awesome we've had all these years to enjoy this miraculous creation. How much longer do we have?

Ha! Are pot heads the only ones who contemplate such things?

Anyone else?

Yeah, it is probably the single most awesome thing, and we take it for granted. It is even more mind boggling that the same processes have repeated billions of times throughout the universe, and we haven't evolved enough to even look at other planets yet. Soon...

I remember been 15 years old and living in Ketchikan, Alaska. Me and my best friend would drive his El Camino up to the old Ski Lodge and lay on the hood of his car smoking a big old fat bowl of Matanuska Thunder frick while watching the Auroras. Damn I miss those days.

"Life" itself is really cool. This natural desire to exist. We don't know why we are here but we know we want to be here

Everyone should do it at least once. It's amazing. Go ahead and throw something like Pink Floyd's Dark Side in to play while you're at it.

Idk man. I think 2112 is much more enjoyable high than dark side of the moon.

Both are solid indica high albums though.

Really once the big show in the sky starts up, it could be Roy Acuff playing in the background and it will still be awesome to you at that moment.

We are Sims in a higher beings computer game.

Ever wonder why you walk into a room and immediately forget why you walked in? It's because the higher Being decided to cancel that action and enact another.
