Garrett Graves is all over that project. Email him or contact him through FaceBook or his website. His staffers will get you the answer

I bet he is. The McHugh family lined his pockets to push the canal project forward. The land owners were heavily compensated

They finished the train and road bridge over 61 and you can see the massive trench from hwy 19 through Zachary to 61. Seems like it is pretty close. They need a bridge over 964 a and 19 still. It will probably suck to live in Zachary while they are working on the 964 bridge since that is the major roadway to BR.

Also a bridge over plank, railroad bridge next to 19. Bridge over old baker road.

They need to complete the McHugh rd bridge as well

There exists lots of work to complete this prohect

This is a moat for Zachary. They are loving this.

The Comite Diversion-when it’s finished-will divert water in sufficient amounts North of the confluence to the MS River that levels at the confluence will remain low enough for the Amite River to drain properly and reducing flooding significantly.

What if the MS River is high, wont it back flow into the diversion?

That part of EBR is on a bluff, and they have a control structure west of highway 61 (Lilly Bayou Control Structure). It was one of the first things they built before it was delayed for years and years. It doesn't do anything now because it's not complete, but you can see part of it on google satellite view.

It would help prevent 2016 from happening again....and it would be a huge reservoir that could serve as a nice recreational lake.

No, from what I’ve read the high water mark if the Miss River will be lower than the diversion canal.
