You'll need your binocs or telescope to see it.

Looks like a milky round smudge in the sky.

If you miss it this time, it will pass again in 8,000 years.

So it will be 8000 years before I see a round smudge in the sky?

The name of the guy who discovered it is named Lovejoy.

He might be a doctor of some kind.

Hey! The Dark Skies are sacred. There's nothing titillating about the Dark Skies, do you hear me??

NOTHING !!

The Seven Sisters in Pleiades are NAKED, but, it's Art Naked not Porno Naked.

Be honest did you get "binocs" from that bit on impractical jokers?

I'm up in God's country far from any lights and it's better than I expected. I can see it with the naked eye (once I knew where to look - if the Pleiades are the center of a clock and the center of Orion's Belt is the 6, lovejoy is at ~ the 2:00 from north la) and the tail is clearly visible with 10x binoculars.

You saw a beautiful clear and moonless night!

At a minimum, you saw Orion and a planet or two.

Holy shites, good for you. I didn't think that it would be so visible anywhere in Louisiana. You should be able to see it until the end of this month.

For others who want to try, Heavens-Above.com and other places have a sky chart to help you find it. Anybody near a city won't see it, is my guess, due to light pollution.

It is a rare, practically once in a lifetime event to be able to see a comet and its tail with the unaided eye, so, good for you.
