thinking about going to Colorado for the first time. Thinking about Steamboat or Breckenridge. Any recommendations besides Vail or Aspen (too crowded) with a good nightlife and skiing?

Vail is less crowded than breck fyi. Beaver creek is cool. If you do beaver creek, vail is real close so you could do both in the same trip.

Skip CO and go to Utah... Sandy to be more exact.
You can hit Snowbird, Solitude, The Canyons, Alta, and Brighton within like 10 minutes.
I recommend Alta.
the snow is way better in Utah.

Steamboat is pretty solid. Old fashioned downtown, good bars/eats.
Breck, lots and i mean lots of people.
Vail, huge arse area, good nightlife.
When you going?

Breck is definitely going to be more crowded.
Steamboat will have a more family atmosphere with fewer lines but still has a fun night life.
They even have mardi gras parties every year.
If you really want to rough it i recommend Wolf Creek. No crowds or lines. They get the most snowfall in Colorado every year. Downside is that there is no town to speak of. You go there to ski and thats about it.

Steamboat is well worth the drive from Denver.
Utah is good too. You can do Utah real cheap if you stay in Sandy and take the ski bus to the resorts each morning.

Went to vail last year.
No complaints. Lines weren't long at all.

Aspen is not crowded, pal. You're poor .... Just admit that's why you don't want to go to Aspen.

Winter park. Not the best at anything but great at everything. Mary Jane slopes are the shite

Crowded is all relative. Weekends at any resort are going to be pretty crowded. Weekdays are not bad except holidays.
Keystone is one of my favorites. Great place to learn I think.

Don't forget Keystone and Copper. I actually like the Keystone village atmosphere, pretty damn good runs and backcountry.
You should be using a snorkel by late February.
Breck does get crowded. Vail is just one huge arse area. you go to the back bowls at Vail and stay there. Take you a hour plus to get back to the main lodge. Powder day can't beat it...
