Someone in the house switched it from heater to AC last night for some reason. Woke up pretty chilly.

-24 in Wyoming. I didn't wear gloves because it was just going to be a quick step out of the truck. Turned into like 10 minutes. Not my finest hour.

I was stationed at Minot AFB in the late 60's and was out on dispatch one early Jan. night when the temperature was -37 with wind gusting up to 50 mph. The northern lights were as vibrant as I had ever seen. Frostbite would start appearing on exposed skin in a matter of minutes. Peeing on the ground would freeze before you were finished.

a wet 16 degrees in South Louisiana at ground level while 80ft high in a cable tray on top of a pipe rack with a 30 mph wind. No telling what the windchill was, but I couldn't feel my toes again until noon. I thought I was going to freeze to death.

Pops Midnight used to tell me stories about Alaska - he was below the Arctic Circle at King Salmon AFS a a weather and radar detection site and once hit -60ish wind chill (I'm guessing temperature was about -30 to -40 - that's about as cold as it gets there) during a blizzard. He said he was colder in Wyoming at 18 above than Alaska in the whatever it was below.

I was just south of the Brooks Range. Kinda like being on the moon, I'd think.

we have to carry a polar suit on certain trips at work which requires a polar suit class, I went to the class but I'll be damned if I ever put that thing on

The day I was caught out at the Wax was brutal. Someone died of hyperthermia that day (what I read in the paper). It was a freak storm that came out of nowhere. It really sucked but the birds were flying.

High of -6 in Minneapolis today, windchill is like -30.

Same in Wisconsin, where I am.

This isn't normal. It happened twice last year and people are still talking about it. Normal daytime temps in Wisconsin are in the 20s, give or take 10 degrees. This -5 with -25 or less in the wind is something else.

I've traveled quite a bit, been in subzero up north. To me 25 degrees overcast and windy in S. La. is by far most biting cold .
