Cockroach stories

One time when I was a kid I was getting ready to go outside and I was in a hurry. So I decided to not put on socks and just put my shoes on. Well, I slipped my shoes on and immediately felt a cool bump right below the middle of my foot. So I took the shoe off and turned it over and a giant cockroach fell to the ground and took off running.
My friend swears this happened to him. Said he went to a fast food chicken restaurant. Right after he placed an order at the front cash register a cockroach took off running across the counter in front of everyone. He canceled the order and left the restaurant.

But those are my roaches. That is different.

My grandfather used to squash them barefooted.

They only bother me when they are flying erratically, and when they do, it's usually in my direction.

sitting at a burger king across from campus when I was in college. Went there between classes sat down to eat my biscuit when about that time two roaches crawled down the wall and across the table. I threw my food away and have never been back to a burger king since.

one of those mayo packets from a fast food joint.
make a tiny slit in it so that when you squeeze it, it will open.
hide the mayo packet in your hand.
tell a chick, any chick that you have a huge cockroach in your hand.
then squeeze the packet so that it makes a popping sound and mayo/roach juice oozes out between your fingers.

I will throw this in here I just thought about:
In the smithsonian (I went in 1988) there was a display about what your kitchen would look like if every roach egg survived.
Looked like a packed football stadium

Few years back, sat down to lunch and opened up a to go box of Canes and a roach was big chillin on top of my chicken. To be fair the box sat in the break room for a little while before I got to it, so it could have come from there. Still did not go back to that Canes for quite a while.

I have an old friend that will catch them and let them go outside.
I also knew and old drunk that lived in the back room of a business on Jefferson Highway and he had something bothering him so he went to the emergency room and they pulled a live pregnant roach out of his eardrum.

When I was younger, my family and I went to a remote South Korean island to go fishing. I wasn't very good or patient back then so I decided to go back to the boat. Well, there's a huge rock you have to climb over to get back the boat and it's crawling with monstrous sea roaches. Thousands.
I noticed when you stepped in a spot though, they would all scatter before the actual step took place. "Oh, this is interesting and fun." Get to the ledge part, put my hand on the rock to climb over... They all scatter as usual EXCEPT one. It crawls over my hand, I scream like a little 9 year old girl in stead of a boy and run back to the family and patiently wait until they're done. Too traumatized to talk I HATE roaches.

I went to college in Georgia but your story probably still carries some merit.

I used to have a horrible fear of roaches as a child. Probably stemmed from an incident at our house. While sifting through our recycling bin to collect Coke can tabs, I could feel something crawling up my leg. I looked down and a giant cockroach was about to run up my shorts. I completely freaked out and from then on was very scared of them. I'd have to convince myself of certain "truths" to help cope with the fear. For example, I told myself I was safe in my bed/bedroom at night because roaches couldn't crawl on carpet.

Have a friend that freaked out by him. In a fishing camp one night he saw one of those big flying bastards. About that time the tassel from the ceiling fan string touched his ear. He spun around swinging wildly and split my forehead open

My aunt used to catch them with her hands and throw them out her from door and watch them fly down to the pool at her apartment complex.
Why do they alway fly towards me???

Since I started giving geckos and spiders free run of my house, I have had no cockaroaches.
