Just saw this on ABC world news.

When did this news break? Did I miss this or is this brand new news?

Been discussed at length on here for days. Copilot might have been a recent convert to a non-Christian religion of peace & love.

Thanks

Last time I checked there was discussion about the co pilot having a medical emergency but I didn't see anything about possible terrorism.

It's fricked up, pilot should be able to use some sort of override. Thumbprint or eyeball recognition or security code. Ridiculous that a co pilot would do that.

Just saw that US regulations require two in the cockpit at all times.

That fixes the problem without all of the expensive technical modifications like fingerprint readers.

Thumbprint or eyeball recognition

Cut off the pilot's thumb and open sesame. Probably works with eyeballs too.

I live in Germany where everyone is talking about this, and I haven't heard it. Just curious.

Mandatory toilets in all cockpits...it's the only answer. Trust no one. That, and a copy of the Quran.

override

If you have an override, then a terrorist can extort the code out of the pilot.

The irony is that a terrorist prevention method helped someone who committed a heinous act it was designed to prevent. That's if it was on purpose.

I hope you are being sarcastic bc it is false.

The guy was mentally ill and crashed the plane. Outside of the US, the 2 person cockpit rule does not exist. So, the co-pilot was able to be alone and do the override lock on the door, preventing anybody from entering. The way they design those doors, not even a grenade can get through.
