Had someone in my shed last night. When I came around the corner of the house they broke camp and jumped the back fence. Had him in the sights, but better judgment said don't do it. At the time all I could think about is what it it's a kid.. Have some game cameras up now so I guess we will see..

I think this is how Signs started.

Should have thrown water at him.

Accidentally punched in the silent distress code on the ex's alarm one night. The cops showed up half an hour later trying to open the front and back doors without announcing who they were. It was pretty intense for a good 5 mins.

Sleep paralysis....vivid dream someone was kicking in my door while my eyes were open . Grabbed my .357 at the time, cocked it b/c I was sure someone was trying to break on, but when I opened the door, no one was there.

Sleep paralysis is no joke. Checkout THE NIGHTMARE on Netflix it don't disappoint

Had a buddy in BR that got drunk enough to go to the wrong house and try to get in. Got shot through the door

Lived in apartment with a glass front door while at LSU. Woke up one night to my dog going berserk. Saw a guy trying to shove the door open. Made eye contact with him and told him I'm calling the cops. He just looked right at me and started running at the door. Grabbed my .38 and pointed it directly at his face, but he kept on running at the door. I was ready to shoot if he got through. Baton Rouge PD got there quickly and by that point he was on the ground. Turned out the dude was visiting neighbors, got really drunk, and mistook my apartment for his friends. I wonder if he realized how close he came to losing his life that night.

Ugh, this is why we should ban alcohol in america instead of guns. Guns dont kill people, alcohol does!

Ready to cut loose a few years ago at an intruder in our barn. Got to tickled to do anything watching him run away from our Great Pyrenees that only wanted to play but startled him before I got close.

Only time I've ever come close to being robbed or mugged was at a red light a few years ago and thankfully my friend was paying attention. We were stopped and two guys pulled up behind us, jumped out their car and were running towards us when he gunned it down a side street in old metairie.

It was unnerving that he didn't back down when he first saw me and especially when he had a gun pointed at him, but other than that I felt relatively calm and focused. I do remember that it felt like things were happening in slow motion.

You were right not to shoot. Once they turn their back and start running, if you shoot it's a murder (or attempted murder if you miss) charge on you. If you shoot, you better be damn sure they are facing you.

About 4 years ago when I was living in NOLA on magazine, lower garden district, by Surreys and MOJO coffee. My gf, wife now, woke me up saying she thought she heard someone. I woke up, heard a footstep, and grabbed my 45. I racked a round, which they heard, then shouted that I had a gun, police had been called and for them to leave. Gave it about 5 seconds then opened bedroom door. As I walked out, they were running out of the house, saw the dindu's as they ran out the backdoor. They stole my 50 inch TV, coin jar, watch, wallet and backpack.

Weird to think if I wouldn't have shouted at them and just walked out of my bedroom to them carrying my TV, either I would have shot them, or I would have been in a gun battle with at least 2 dudes, 3 I think though.

Scary shite, glad I announced myself, I think catching someone like that by surprise would be a pretty bad thing.

You do know that your gf, wife now had let them in (in every way possible) before you woke up and then she had buyer's remorse?

Sorry to have to publicly point this out to you.
