Church shooting spinoff - Criminals that surrender

Not your day to day thief but these mass shooters and high-profile murderers:
Why do they surrender (knowing they are in for a hellish life in prison) versus going out in a blaze?
Crazy and can't grasp situation or do they want to experience the notoriety?
Does the media play a part by sensationalizing these idiots versus ignoring them?
Thoughts?

Maybe he left the gun in the other room while he was taking a dump. Maybe you have to psyche yourself up for something like that, and the prior shooting took all his mental energy. Who the frick knows.

Most guys like that are actually cowards.
Look at colubine.
One wanted to go head to head with police and go out shooting and the other talked him in to keeping the plan of killing themselves.

exactly right...these folks are murderers who are only interested in killing defenseless people...when they are confronted, they typically give up quickly...

He'll probably be in a max security prison, and I doubt he'll interact much (or at all) with other inmates.
