My daughters friend, 8 years old has been diagnosed with a rare cancer. Analplastic large cell lymphoma. Only in about 250 kids a year. Found out today after scans it is in her neck and stomach. Feel so helpless on what to do for the family. We haven’t told our daughter yet, still trying to figure out how. Hug your kids.

My wife has an 8 year old in her classroom who is dealing with cancer, been out all semester with treatments. Sweetest little girl. They are hoping she will be back at school after Christmas.

It's very sad, and puts your thoughts in perspective for sure.

#1 let them know that you are there 24/7 for them

#2 that little girl is living right now, not dying.

#3 let your daughter know, at the appropriate time that she is sick and that love and prayers are needed

#4 hitting my knees right now for your dear friend, her family and yours.

My son was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 4. It took 3.5yrs of treatment at St. Jude but he was cured. Thankfully we caught it early.

The things you see in a children’s hospital will give you new hope for humanity. Children with strength 10x’s than the adults in the building. Medical staff that despite seeing innocent children die everyday still somehow maintain this relentless optimism and joy in their interactions with patients.

Parents banding together to help each other through the ordeal.

God bless your friends family. I hope their daughter beats it

I have a family member who also had leukemia as a kid. St. Jude was a literal lifesaver for he and his family. From treatments to making their trips and stays as comfortable and easy as possible, they were top notch. They do great things, and are as close to miracle workers that you can get. Supporting them in any way is always a great idea.

OP, I'm sorry to hear this news. Cancer is terrible, but is the worst when it impacts children. I'll say a prayer for everyone involved.

Had a 2 year old w/ Leukemia, he made it, but it was a fight. It changes everything in your life. Prayers for that child. That's what the Rant/MSB people don't understand, sports/games mean nothing in real life. Love your children and family b/c you never know what life brings. Don't live your life on sports, b/c it's really meaningless.

I lost my 10 year old son to a rare cancer. It’s the worst feeling ever as a parent to see your child go through that. It’s been 12 years and I’ve not gotten close to being able to deal or come to terms with it. I miss my son everyday.

Just did a little Googling and it is a curable cancer so there's hope. Best of luck to her and the family.

This is why I gladly donate to St. Jude. No kid should have to go thru cancer.
