do these chiggers steal from your good health?
or do they not work at all?

It is actually the larve of the redbug under your skin that is squirming around making it itch. The only way to kill a chigger (red bug) larve is to paint over the top of the blister with fingernail polish and smother it.

A chigger as in a hitchhiker? Never gotten a blister from one of those
Or like the bugs? Not sure I've ever been bitten by one, but I also practice basic hygiene so that might help.

Benadryl is the answer. They don't borough into your skin and you can't smother them with nail polish.

No larvae. It's a reaction to the saliva of the chigger.

This.
But I think nail polish works by neutralizing the saliva and/or sealing off the hole.
All I really know is it works.

You're obviously a fricking idiot, so maybe chiggers stay away from your type?

They must be attracted to unreasonably angry people. They suck blood, so your high blood pressure from getting so frequently rustled on the internet must smell like a BBQ to them.

When I was 16 yrs old I took a little red-head into the bushes in her back yard and I had chigger bites everywhere from the waist down. Miserable and embarrassing trip to doctor's office insisted on by my mom. Doctor prescribed antihistamines and itch cream and some advice about how to avoid future incidents.

Mix a solution of one part bleach to 5 parts water. Grab some cotton balls. Don't use to concentrate bleach or you'll burn your skin. Scratch the frick out of the chigger spot until you pop the head. It will usually draw a little blood. It will feel great to scratch it that hard. Dip the cotton ball and put it on the bites. After you've done that for 15 minutes put on chig-a-rid that you can get from Wal-Mart. This will heal 90% of bites within 3 days. Keep repeating this process until gone
