Does anyone know the story on this? I saw a weird post on Facebook saying a guy (Jack Warner Riffle) was missing the other day. Said his vehicle was found under the Interstate 10 at Henderson. I Google'd the name and it appears that he actually passed away. More Googling has led to the fact that it was the guy who wrecked the boat that paralyzed Chico Garcia. LINK

Dang what a sad end. The other three people injured in the crash were his own wife and two kids.

The obit says he was preceded in death by his brother, David Riffle. I wonder if that is the same David Riffle that lived in Shenandoah subdivision ..

Was Chico in the boat with jack, or did jack's boat collide with chico's?

I think he was on the boat with Jack. From an old article:

quote:

On the afternoon of Aug. 27, Garcia was with friends. The day consisted of food and drinks, wakeboarding, tubing and other water activities. On the ride home, he was facing the stern of the boat, talking to a friend. Garcia noticed the boat getting close to the shoreline near the docks.

"Before I could say, ‘Hey, Jack!' to warn the driver we were getting to close, there was a loud bang and I blacked out."

When he came to, he was near the bow of the boat, which had lodged under a pier. Above him was a child hanging from the pier by her clothes.

It sounds like Jack & Chico were friends...that's got to be rough living with the fact that you paralyzed your friend.

i'm pretty sure he was forced to resign or was fired from his assistant cheerleading job.

Why the hell does this comment have Downvotes? Jack was a lawyer... It's only natural that he would've been handling his caseload and talking to lawyers.

They became friends with Chico through the gym where he coached their daughter. I have often wondered how you live with yourself being responsible for leaving someone paralyzed from the neck down. Someone who was so full of life and so active.

Feel horrible for their children. The Riffle's adopted both of their children from orphanages in Russia (I think). Both children were in pretty horrible conditions and made unbelievable recoveries because of their parents.
