I've eaten crazy stuff all my life but had never heard of this until recently, doesn't even look appealing.

Chicken - lunch/dinner
Waffles - breakfast for fat people

We never did the waffles but my mother used to fry chicken and bake biscuits. We would use honey on the biscuits and the combo of flavors was top notch.

The dish actually became popular due to Dickie Wells' Jazz Club & Restaurant serving it to hungry musicians in the wee hours of the morning.

The jazz musicians were often complaining that by the time they ended their shows and broke down equipment, it was after 3am, and all they could get was breakfast food--so Dickie whipped up fried chicken and served it with breakfast...and it caught on.

I'm one of those weird people that doesn't like it either. Just not my flavor combo. It's right up there with pineapple on pizza.

Funny thing, best chicken and waffles I've had were room service from the Venetian in Vegas. I may have been shitfaced at 5am but I remember they were glorious.

I've been known to get a box of Cane's chicken fingers and pair it with a "thick and fluffy" eggo. LIFE HACK!

How is waffles considered fat but fried chicken not?

Good Lord what decade is this? If you were to fry a skin-on chicken thigh in good oil, and eat that every day, it would not make you fat. Waffles on the other hand, unless made with almond flour or something, certainly will, even without syrup.
