This is true. I know it for a fact.

Something tells me chess players stay sharper for longer than the typical man..... of course, typically only intelligent people are interested in chess to begin with...

The Navy did a study to determine what traits possessed by Navy SEAL candidates indicated the most potential for successfully completing training, playing chess was one.

The results are suggesting that rural southerners have the same ability to learn as anyone else. You completely missed the point here

Chess takes dedicated study to even have a baseline competence. No one who just plays a game here and there is actually any good.

This makes me feel a little better about myself.

If all the stats point that out, it's not a "conception," it's a fact.

Agree and LA is 49 in those stats, so I suppose we are right there with them.

You know what really checks out... my lifestyle.

Nice catch finding that typo, however.

Care to play a game and prove your masterful intelligence?

Ill make sure to get super blazed to try and level the playing field.... like it would matter.

Oops, I forgot to put a "flying comma" up there.... I suppose all of my success is clearly proven to be a farce now.

Chess truly is one of the greatest things you can do for your mind. Clearly the Navy is on to something.

It is such a shame that chess is looked down upon in this country.

My 7 year old would honestly beat most of America right now, and no, she is not Magnus Carlsen,,,,

It's just that my 7 year old is a genius, and most of this country is woefully ignorant.

After playing six games, I developed a solid mastery of chess. I could beat 90% of the chess players.
