I'm planning on building second row home theater seating riser with them by installing them inside of a plywood housing. Has anyone ever tried getting pallets from Sams/Costco, Home Depot/Lowes, etc? I don't know if businesses give them away or sell them after receiving shipments. TIA

ETA: Sorry, I meant to add that I'm in Bossier City

Some local nurseries are looking to give them away. I would just buy something out of courtesy.

Go behind any business and take them. Wally world. Sams. We have a floor and decor and they let you take as many as you want.

I'm from the AP too - you can get them from the Cotton Gin in Hamburg for free. If you don't feel like going there, I have some in my backyard you can have!! The wife is addicted to Pintrest, don't ask.

First ask permission.
Next negotiate price.
Anything other than free or they pay you, walk away!
Seriously.

You can't just take them from anywhere. You have to ask. Most will just give it to you.

Don't just roll up somewhere and take them, even if they are near the street, most places rent the pallets for various deliveries and if you take them they'll get your plates and report you for minor theft. It just takes a few minutes to ask.

Also, don't get any that have had food or other chemicals on them. Many people have poisoned themselves working with pallets that weren't meant for constant use. The blue ones have usually had food on them and most have colonies of e coli present.

Lastly, wear gloves when dismantling them or get ready for a tetanus shot.

I actually built a 2nd row home theater with pallets too for one of our game rooms. What city are you in? There are certain stores and even universities that have massive amounts of over stocked pallets.

The ones at box stores that have the ends painted blue are free. They paint them so you know which ones to take

Or, wait patiently behind the a-hole who has 70 pallets about 12 feet high, swayin and dancing in the wind, getting ready to fall and stop traffic for next 35 minutes.

He's always a donator of free Pallets.
