My wife and I are in Charlotte for the night tonight...any recommendations for restaurant and bar districts/areas for dinner and a few drinks?

Alexander Michael's is an absolute MUST. It's on 9th in the 4th I think... Just google it.

Amazing food.

Southend has lots of bars & restaurants, 20's to 30's crowd, pretty fratty atmosphere

Noda has a few decent restaurants and bars, more a an artsy/hipster crowd. If you like craft beer Noda Brewing is worth a trip to drink some Hop Drop n Roll on tap. Birdsong Brewery has several quality brews as well and is about a mile away.

A little bit nicer areas are the Metropolitan (just outside of Uptown, several classier bars/restaurants with great view of the skyline) and Piedmont Row (next to Southpark). Your wife might like these spots better.

Basically everything Aztarheel said. Where are you staying? You looking for good beers, good food, good bars, or what.

With the wife, If uptown, go to capital grille for a steak and then go ri Rae's or to the epicenter. If in southpark, go to cowfish, or good food on Montford, then go to Philips place if you are older or Montford dr if you're in your 20s. South end is also a good mid 20s-early 30s scene.
