I've been working in sales for the past 3 years with moderate success, but I absolutely loathe it. The fact that I've been decently monetarily rewarded is the only reason I've continued to do it.

I've been considering a career change to law enforcement for a couple years now. I have a B.S. In CJ so I've got that going for me, combined with the fact that the PD in my area pays pretty decently. I'd take an initial pay cut but the salary growth scale seems about the same over time.

I know some of the OT ballers hate the heat, so don't worry I have no plans of shooting anyone's pit bull. I'd just like to get some legit opinions of some of you who may have friends/family that are officers or are officers yourselves.

Imo you're overqualified to be a PO.

Years ago my husband was a cop. Left for personal reasons. To this day I know it's one of his biggest regrets in life so far.

Good luck and hope you find the career path that makes you more content.

I was pursuing the career a few years ago. I was on my way until I got into a little trouble. Probably for the best now with everything that's going on. You can argue they're public enemy number one now. Best of luck

Just don't be a fricking dickhead cop and you'll be fine.

Unfortunately, a lot of cops nowadays are fricking douche bags.

If I ever want to be a patrol officer again I would probably move to Austin and join their police department.

How so? It wasn't the Miami Vice/The Shield/Mayberry experience he expected it to be.

He wasn't expecting it to be that. His beat as a new cop was one of the crappiest areas of Central Phoenix...and he loved it from what he told me about that time in his life(that was before we met). Was dealing with some personal crap at the time and saw it was distracting him as a cop so he quit. From what he says...once you quit, they don't take too kindly to wasting time and money on your academy training....they usually won't rehire you later unless you have a really good reason or you left to further your education.
