Makes sense. It would make sense for all of us to drive Prius, build smaller houses with solar panels on top, do away with cell phones so towers wouldn't take up good space, turn state and federal lands back over to the people. Infinitely, I can find so many more areas that can compare.
Another good point is where are we going to get zombies if there are no graves?

When you die, your family pays thousands to bury you in the ground beneath a rock that has your name on it. After one generation, if you are lucky to even get that, no one visits your grave anymore and you'll fade into memory anyway.
It doesn't make sense.
Scruffy wants to be cremated and buried beneath a tree so that he'll become an Ent. Pretty sure that's what happens.
I agree with everything but the tree part. I'd like my ashes to be used to cut down some quality coke and then snorted off the tits and asses of high dollar prostitutes.
Either that or mix me with some water, put me in a douche, and run me through one more time.

Uh, what? He's not talking about one-time costs of a cremation, urn, and shovel, he's talking about the costs to maintain a cemetery over years.
Once you're cremated and buried beneath a tree, financial costs are done with.
If you're buried in a cemetery, upkeep is forever.
OP, I agree with you. I always felt like being in a cemetery was pointless. I feel like taking up some specific space on this earth forever is selfish. I want to be returned to this earth, just as I came from it. Cremate me and spread my ashes somewhere of significance to me.
