Keep your son at Catholic High. Both are good schools but Catholic is best of the two. There is also a big difference between the two when it comes to alumni base and the opportunities that open up down the road.

Frankly, a CHS diploma = instant credibility; whereas St. Michaels diploma = I wonder why they didn't go to Catholic?

The whole Catholic high alumni advantages are bullshite. It's all up to the individual. I know plenty of St Michaels people who are more successful than Catholic grads.

ETA: nobody cares about your high school diploma once you get your college one

I think that's putting a little too much credence into a HS diploma, only other people I've heard talk about their HS like that is Brooklyn Tech, or whatever it's called

You probably know people that went to Lee High that are more successful that some CHS grads, but as a whole alumni base there is no comparison.

The high school you attended should be on resume

As a Catholic alum myself, I have not seen one single advantage to it

You stay at Catholic High, you stay at Jesuit, you stay at STM. I don't know the rest of the cities in the state well enough to know their prominent high schools.

Your traffic excuse is weak.

Should I put Bishop Sullivan or St. Micheals on my resume?

I went to CHS, but I'm not a big CHS fan boi/alumni booster, etc. I know there are several CHS alumn within my company and they are all in executive to mid-level management positions. I can't think of one notable St. Michaels alum within our organization, and we have nearly 3,000 local employees.

That being said, which kid interviewing do you think has an advantage?

I know of a kid who commuted from BR to NOLA for a year to go to Ben Franklin.

He's in 10th grade and all of his friends are at Catholic. Keep him there.

It's only 2 more years.

I'm assuming it's a local company, or at least HQ'd locally. If so, then that's a good strategy if your aspirations don't exceed the length of the umbilical.

You are right it is a shithole! I'm not originally from here and will most likely move when he graduates high school!

OMG, and here are the moms that create nightmare men. This is your son, not your husband. Why do women insist on creating co-dependent, creepy relationships with their male children?
