Check out Alden, Oak Street bookmakers/rancourt(similar styles). Spend on something less "fashionable" but get American made and you won't have to replace them every year or even every 5 years.
Idiots laugh about spending money on nice shoes like it's stupid. Generations before us(pre-baby boomer) spent money on 2 things shoes and suits. It didn't matter how poor they were, they had nice shoes and a suit that fits. They wore those nearly forever because it was an investment.
If you go out and buy a $100-200(msrp) pair of shoes today, you'll be hard pressed to get a year of regular wear out of them. Buy a pair of Alden $500 and you wear them for 5 years before having to get them resoled.

I'll admit I don't cheap out with boots since they last 3 or 4 years but with tennis shoes I'll usually go cheap with.
