Why would an American car maker design a car with the fuel door on the passenger side? It fricks up the flow of traffic at the pumps.

Inevitably, when someone comes in with yellow marker paint down the side of their wrecked vehicle, it’s always down the passenger side.

I'm sure we could come up with more than a hundred different endings to this sentence, but yeah the fuel door is on that list.

I dont think it would matter to help flow. People will still f it up somehow. Especially when a pump is out. That throws it all off

If you run out of gas on the side of the road you want to be standing on the driver's side exposed to traffic or on the passenger side nice and safe?

That's why Volvo does it.

Car originally designed for the UK, Japanese, or Australian market(s)?

If you run out of gas on the side of the road, it means you are dumb.

The Cadillac CTS did this and it was weird. That was an American car for US roads.

They wanted to see in Europe, but the larger market is on the mainland and not England.

Don't know.

Mine is 100% Japanese, so that's probably why mine is on the right.

They should be on the right in the US. Or on the back like jeeps have or had.

Baw, just pump their gas and get them on their way.

Had to suffer through this when I owned a Chevrolet car years ago. Now that I have Toyotas it's never an issue.

Every vehicle I’ve had in my life outside of the rentals always had the fuel door on the right side.

Both of mine (German) are on the right side. Not sure I understand what the issue is?

Audi salesman one time told me that you fill up on the right side so in the case of an explosion, it's further from the driver. That was the day I knew never to trust car salesmen, the fuel tank is in the center of the car.

I’m confused. Are these not people who are still dumb for running out of gas?

We bought a Ford Escape about a year ago and it's on the right side. I didn't notice it when we got it. It pisses me off every time I have to fill it up.
