As a deterrent from further escalation of certain situations for one thing. Being a gun owner doesn't make you some buffoon who is just waiting for an opportunity to take someone's life. I would bet my paycheck that most responsible gun owners pray they never have to use their weapon, but prayer is probably a foreign concept to you as well.

Most have a firearm for two things. Peace of mind and protection. Most realize they'll never have to use it, buts it's nice to have if you do. I knew numerous people who were carjacked in La.
Peace of mind
Deterrent
Deadly force, which is rarely needed

congrats on arming another criminal.
thugs love when you gun nuts come into cities and leave ur shite in your vehicle.
Especially when you consider locking a gun up, just putting it into a locked case.LOLOLOLOLOLOL that's not locked away.
So when you hear of another person killed in st.louis area, pat yourself on the back. U did your part in helping that person get whacked.

I have this in my front yard.

Good response. But know that if you have made the choice to be armed that it just might come down to having to use it. That's where my issue lies, I do not trust today's gun owners with making that lethal decision.

Oh look, an uninformed statement based on negative stereotypes. The overwhelming number of gun owners go their lives without an incident in which irresponsible behavior is displayed.

Unfortunately there are people in this world that try to prey on people that are in compromising situations. I was traveling between mandeville and Atlanta around 1 am I had to stop for gas in the middle of nowhere outside of Montgomery, AL.
The gas station was about a mile off of the interstate in a heavily wooded area, it was closed with all of the lights off but the pumps were still on. I was the only one there, but I needed gas. It was cold as shite, so I was sitting in my truck with the door open and my feet on the running board.
This shitty old Altima with no lights on pulls up to the pump on the other side. Two guys get out and start approaching me saying shite like that's a nice truck man, looks like you could give us some money for gas and looking at the tools my bed. My gun is holstered under my steering wheel, and I had my hand on it ready to draw. Once they got closer and they saw the gun, they backed off and got in their car and left. Scary enough situation for me to carry anytime I'm on a long road trip.

Statistics would indicate otherwise. You hope you're right, I know I am. Have a great evening, keep the gun handy.

Post them. Let's see if your fear is based.
Posted on 2/20/17 at 7:32 pm to RogerTheShrubber
No fear here. Remember, you need the gun not me.

I ask because I do not know the answer - is using a weapon in these instances a safer decision for your safety and the safety of your passengers?

Where did I say I carried a gun?
Where is your statistical link?

If you're responsible and take the initiative to learn about when it's useful to initiate the presence of a firearm.

Where did I say you did? You are arguing need, try to keep up there. Let's not bring your intellectual prowess into question after that Almighty introductory post.
